Last Night’s Brit Awards Recap

Hi Friends!

Thank god for the internet and social media, otherwise I would have never known the 2015 Brit Awards were happening last night.  Even though I was unable to watch the actual live show, I feel like I was there every step of the way.  Here are some moments that I would like to share….

Red Carpet Winners

Ellie Goulding and Rita Ora looked hands down, flat out, kill myself, drop dead gorgeous.

This Picture Happened

Besties Taylor Swift and Karlie Kloss took a pic with Kimmy who, let’s be real, would never miss an opportunity to have her picture taken.  That aside, there’s a lot of girl power happening in this photo, and I dig it.

Awkward Dancing

Quite possibly my favorite reason for watching any sort of music award show is for the Taylor Swift awkward front row dancing. Last night did not disappoint. Kim’s feelin’ it too.

The Ultimate Highlight

The self proclaimed Queen herself Madonna, took a tumble down a flight of stairs.  Can I be frank for a moment? When Madonna showed up at the Grammy’s I had this feeling of “God, I wish she would save her integrity and give it a rest” I mean, she flashed her ass cheeks to the cameras. And didn’t she perform this EXACT number that night too? Minus the fall. Is that normal? Honestly, I hope I’m not watching Britney do the same thing in 20 years.

Well friends I think that’s all I have to say about that.

The Oscars– Our Favorites!

Hi Friends!

So we know we’re a day late on posting our favorites from the Oscars but seriously, we had a difficult time editing down our list.  Honestly, we got a little personal with this list so excuse us if it seems a little bias, because it definitely is. Sorry if we aren’t as objective as Kathy Griffin and Kelly Osbourne (ya right) but we had so many favorites!

Lauren’s Picks

Love How You Just Had A Baby

FullSizeRender-60                                                                 FullSizeRender-63

Zoe Saldana gave birth to twins less than two months ago. Rosamund Pike debuted her post baby body at the Globes wearing a table cloth on the red carpet but still gotta give her some cred. Are you serious with these bodies?! Pretty much confirms: Celebs – they’re nothing like us.

Love Your Age Appropriateness

I am such a sucker for a woman aware of her age whether it’s 18 year old Chloe Moretz or 65 year old Meryl Streep.  Call me old fashioned but I think both of these women look absolutely gorg while keepin’ it classy.  Maybe others should take some notes? (Madonna and Ariana Grande)

Love How Objective I Am

Let me clarify for you.  ScarJo and Gwenny are really two women I try to avoid at all costs.  I was hesitant to put them on my list because the last thing I want is to come across as a mean girl in my description.  But then I thought, isn’t leaving them off my list making me a mean girl? They look ah-mazing and I really can’t deny it.

Love You, Love Your Dress

Even though Khloe Kardashian totally shit all over Anna Kendrick on the red carpet saying something like “it looks like a dress you wear to a middle school dance” I’m still confident in my decision to put her on my best dressed list.  Sorry Khloe.  And Jessica Chastain, that color is divine.  I LOVE the way it hugs her curves and love love love that bodice.

Irina’s Picks

Sorry, but I’m too lazy to break down every look. Due to issues with “saving drafts”  this is my 3rd attempt at writing my portion of this post. Thank you for understanding. I will say I’m clearly all over the place with dresses and apparently am not a huge fan of updos. You’ll understand- I hope- once you’ve looked over my compilation.

Love the dress

(Dakota Johnson, Naomi Watts, Jamie Chung, Margot Robbie)

image  imageimage image

“Screw you red carpet. I’m going to wear my hair in a ponytail and look damn cute” – Dakota Johnson in my imagination

Love the person, so by default love the look

(Jennifer Aniston, Oprah, Emma Stone, Chrissy Teigen)

image image image image

I just, (sigh) <3<3<3

Glowing on the Red Carpet

(Reese Witherspoon, Rosamund Pike, Laura Dern– funny, all blondes)

imageimage  image

Not  in love with Reese Witherspoon’s dress if I’m going to be honest (junior prom anyone?), but she was GLOWING on the red carpet if you watched live. It had been raining for most of the fashion telecast, but when Reese hit the red carpet it was like the skies cleared and sunbeams found their way down to her.

So clearly, we are all over the place.  Many stars shined for lots of different reasons and who are we to leave them off our very important list? Hope you enjoyed!

Jewelry That Changed My Life

Hi Friends!

I’ve got jewelry on the mind.  So naturally, I decided to put together a list of times jewelry changed my life in the movies we all know and love.  As I compiled images for this list I realized just how iconic and trendsetting a piece of jewelry can be. Join me as I take a trip down memory lane and let me know what you think!

The Tiffany’s Dog Collar and Bracelet.  I’m pretty sure from the years 2000-2005 having these two pieces dangling for your neck and wrist defined your status in lifer at least in High School. Both are now sitting at the bottom of my jewelry box.  Thanks Elle.

This necklace ruined me.  Quite possibly the saddest moment in the movie.  It made me question for the first time the opposite sex.  I’m not kidding.  I mean, I question them all the time now, but back then I was still naive enough to think they would NEVER buy another woman a gold heart shaped necklace that wasn’t meant for Emma Thompson.

Ginger, Ginger, Ginger.  I LOVE Casino and I LOVE Ginger.  Sure, she’s a gold digging, two timing hustler, but so were all the men in Vegas at that time. Even though she’s sorta a horrible human being, I love her character in this movie and I love seeing her dripping in her gold bangles. My inner old jewish lady swoons.

If you’ve been keeping up with these lists (thank you) I’m sure you’ll notice this is the third (maybe fourth?) time Titanic has made an appearance. It’s not my fault this movie has it all, including The Heart of the Ocean.  Nobody else’s grandmother ordered them a replica for $19.99 out of the back of the TV Guide? Unfortunately for me, Jack never painted me like one of his French girls.

One does not simply make a list of iconic jewelry and NOT include The Ring. I mean, three widely successful blockbusters (and prequels) are all entirely based on this one piece of gold.  I can certainly thank The Fellowship for introducing me to the incredible world of sci-fi.  Not to mention how hot elves are.

Talk to me Harry Winston! Tell me all about it! Arguably the most iconic piece on my list, nobody wears it as well as Marilyn.  She’s my queen, my goddess.  Keep an eye out for a future post about the times Marilyn changed my life.

The hooker turned high-end escort turned billionaire girlfriend receives extravagant necklace.  Need I say more?

Remember when Patrick Dempsey brought Reese Witherspoon into Tiffany’s and let her pick out any engagement ring she wanted? Ya, me too.  I’ve never let it go.  She doesn’t even marry him in the end.  Instead she marries the back woods hottie who makes his own glass.  I suppose Tiffany’s can’t buy you love after all.

The Perfect Valentine

I’ll admit it, there are times I can get mushy-gushy.  I’m a girl – sue me! But for the most part the affection I like is a nice pat on the butt to make me feel all warm and fuzzy.  This Valentines Day I’m sure you’ll receive a Hallmark card, complete with a long winded poem that rhymes and romantic font.  That’s not really my style.  Here are some Valentines I would give out.  This of course if I was of the creative, artistic, clever kind.  Which I am not, but nothing a quick Google search couldn’t fix!

Nothing says “I Love You” more than granny panties. Fact.

Maybe add, “even in the winter” because things get kinda crazy down there.

A simple “how to.” Really guys, it’s that easy!

Because we all have that one thing.

Let’s be honest, it’s important to like someone when you’re sober.

The Grammys— Our Favorites!

Hi Friends!

Let’s talk about last nights Grammys! I mean not the actual show (obvs) but the red carpet looks!

You know the drill—The following is a list of our picks from last night—let us know what you think!

Irina’s Picks (in particular order)

5. Iggy Azalea

1. like a glove  2. that blue is amazing  3. but that hair 😦

4. Chrissy Teigen

1. she’s been on point this award season with sleeves and floor length  2. Love the cut outs  3. doesn’t she just seem so real?

3. Gwen Stefani

1. first things first, how old is she??? #killinit  2. it’s so nice to see a natural look on her 3. pants on the red carpet make me happy and this bodice + not-overly-aggressive harem pant makes me VERY happy

2. Katy Perry

1. obsessed with her hair like this and a perfect pop of color  2. it’s a sheer dress, but the beaded fringe really gives it dimension  3. shine bright like a dIA-mond

1. Taylor Swift

1. dying  2. can I make this my wedding gown?  3. dead

Lauren and I were frantically texting when we saw Taylor. She literally can do no wrong right now. From the sleek hair and killer jewels to the short, but long blue-green ombre dress and those purple heels (and those legs?!)… I just need to stop talking because I’m ruining this moment.

Lauren’s Picks (in particular order)

5. Gwen Stefani

I mostly loved her face last night.  Her makeup was on point.  I loved how she went with a fresh, nude look instead of the typical bold, layer on the bronzer look.

4. Jhene Aiko

The 57th Annual GRAMMY Awards - Red Carpet

Okay, I’m not entirely sure who this girl is,  but she looks gorg.  I’ve always been a sucker for a great collarbone on a woman and she’s defs delivering.

3. Kim and Kanye

Okay, hear me out.  Did anyone see their interview with Ryan before the show? Kanye was actually smiling and engaging.  Dare I say he was charismatic?! I was hopeful.  It’s been really hard to defend him these days and I thought maybe he was turning over a new leaf! Then I saw his rant about Beck aaaand my hopes crashed and burned.  That’s okay though they still looked fab.

2. Lady Gaga

The 57th Annual GRAMMY Awards - Red Carpet

I love the Gaga.  I especially love when she shows up looking classic (as classic as she can) and traditional.  She cleans up well.  I mostly love what she stands for and her unwillingness to change that.  I know this is about fashion and glitz but to me, she’s got it all.

1. Taylor Swift

I mean…this girl.  Talk about an evolution.  Remember her crimped hair and southern drawl? I barely can either.  I just love how stunning she is while remaining age appropriate and classy.  God, I sound like an old lady, but for real.  Love ya Tay!

So we think it’s safe to say our winner from last night was hands down T. Swift.  We aren’t afraid to admit it– WE LOVE THE SWIFT.  We’re not gonna hide our feelings any longer, okay?  Whatever it is, the girl’s got it.  She’s killing it.

Big Night Tonight!

I hope everyone’s ready for the biggest Sunday Night in TV history.  Perhaps I’m exaggerating a bit, if you haven’t noticed I tend to do that.  But seriously, my heads about to explode with all the channel changing I’m about to do tonight.

Can’t wait to watch Taylor Swift awkwardly dance to Beyonce in the front row of the Grammy’s tonight!

Our favorite Breaking Bad  character gets his own show tonight. Yeah Bitch!

image2The Walking Dead returns tonight! I literally just got over the death of Beth.  I also missed Chris Hardwick way too much on Talking Dead.  Yay!

I feel you girl. High-five for sweats, red wine and guac.

Epic Love Stories That Changed My Life

Hi Lovers!

I have mixed feelings about Valentine’s Day.  It’s kinda lame but it’s also kinda cute.  I’m sorta neutral about it.  I don’t love it but I don’t hate it.  It is what it is. I guess maybe that’s why I have always clung so hard to the fantasy land of make believe hollywood romances.  Sorry, that sounded kind of depressing.  My point is, most of the time – real life relationships don’t pan out the way they do on TV or in movies.

What do you mean I’ll probably never passionately kiss someone in the pouring rain?

You’re telling me, that as the world is about to end, no one will eat animal crackers off my chest?

My soulmate won’t rescue me in Paris after I get slapped in the face by my current boyfriend?

That’s bullshit.  At least we have these couples to live vicariously through.  To me, the following is a list (in no particular order) of most epic romances.

Ross & Rachel

These guys.  Even though they were totally on a break, sorry Rach, these two are the ultimate. I literally die every time I watch the prom video episode.  Even though I know what’s coming, my heart stops.  He’s her lobster! Even through Paolo, Emily, Joshua and the skank from the Xerox place we all knew they’d make it. Epic.

Bud & Sissy

FullSizeRender (2

If you aren’t familiar with Bud and Sis, I strongly suggest you watch Urban Cowboy.  John Travolta is  smokin’ hot in it.  At it’s core the movie is a love story but it’s a little rough around the edges, which I love. It’s not always perfect and that’s real life. Epic.

Liv & Ben

FullSizeRender (1)

So I honestly don’t even remember their character names.  All I know is as a prepubescent teen, this scene was everything. These two are so in love they completely forget about the giant astroid heading for earth.  Or that Ben and Liv’s dad are about to hop on that astroid to save all of mankind.  Epic.

Jenny & Forrest

FullSizeRender (3

They’re love story spans like 4 decades.  Sure, Forrest gets shipped to Vietnam, watches Bubba die in his arms and Jenny gets addicted to heroin and eventually dies of AIDS, but the love is never lost. Not to mention the cutest little Haley Joel Osment that you ever did see. Epic.

Allie & Noah

Effing duh. Epic.

Carrie & Big

Their relationship ups and downs lasted an entire TV series and two movies.  I gotta admit though, I was a little disappointed when we learned Big’s name was John.  How normal for a love story that was anything but normal.  That aside, definitely one of the most epic of all time.

Baby & Johnny

Not only is this my favorite movie of all time, but “Nobody puts baby in the corner” are the greatest words ever spoken. Of all time.  Perhaps the sexiest man on the list, Swayze can dance. And not like pop and lock (no offense Magic Mike) but like sexy Tango.  Their story has it all, including daddy’s disapproval.  Epic.

Jack & Rose

My heart will forever go on for these two.  I mean, there’s really nothing more dramatic than falling in love on a ship that hits an iceberg and plummets to the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean. Personally, I think Jack could have fit on the slab of wood but that’s besides the point. They knew each other for like 3 days total.  In that time they managed to party, do it in the back seat of a car, paint a naked portrait and partially survive a plunge into the ocean. Epic.

I hope everyone enjoys their February 14th, celebrating Valentine’s Day or not.  If you’re attached: I sincerely hope you have an epic romance.  If you’re not: be glad you’re not plummeting to the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean ❤ ❤ ❤

Love Always, Lauren xo
