We’re back with a second edition of our Minimalist Style Profile and this time we’re talking about actress Elizabeth Olsen. She always seems so calm, cool and collected and I have a funny feeling it has a lot to do with her easy and effortless style. I mean, it must be much easier to conduct an interview in clothes you feel comfortable in rather than clothes that feel like they are going to kill you if you take one too many deep breaths.
Below are some words of wisdom Olsen has learned along the way of her style journey and most importantly some of my favorite Elizabeth style moments.
On her personal style:
“My style is a bit masculine. I’m not really drawn to feminine prints even though I admire them—when I put them on I feel like I’m playing dress-up in someone else’s clothes.”
On her go-to outfit. Spoken like a true minimalist:
“Nice fitted pants and an oversize blouse tucked in—I wear the same three pairs of pants. If I want to feel dressed up I’ll put on a kitten heel.”
On why she’s sometimes insecure:
“The clothes we’re expected to fit into aren’t sizes; they’re samples. They’re not made for chicks with boobs, so I’m very self-conscious about having them,” she admits. “I have fun choosing an outfit for my best friend’s wedding, but not [something] I’m going to be judged in.”
A style lesson she’s learned from her sisters, Mary Kate + Ashley:
“Style is long-lasting and timeless, and you have to make it work for you.”
On her current go-to designer:
“Rosie Assoulin. She’s great. Her pieces are all very sculptural. They’re about feeling good and feeling special—not about bodycon.”
Until Next Time!
